Getting There
Reaching Mwanza is convenient, whether you're traveling from within Tanzania or coming from abroad. The city’s well-connected infrastructure makes it accessible by air, road, rail, and even water.
✈️ By Air (International & Domestic)
For international visitors, the easiest way to reach Mwanza is by flying into Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) near Arusha. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Mwanza Airport (MWZ), which is located just 5–10 minutes from the city center.
Daily flights from Air Tanzania, Precision Air, and other local carriers link Mwanza with Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Dodoma.
🚘 From Mwanza Airport to Malaika Beach Resort
Once you arrive at Mwanza Airport, getting to Malaika Beach Resort is quick and effortless. The resort is located just 3 km from the airport and provides complimentary airport shuttle service upon request. Taxis and ride-hailing services are also readily available for convenience.
🚌 By Road
Mwanza is accessible by long-distance buses and private car hires from other Tanzanian cities like Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Dodoma. While road trips can be long, they offer scenic views of the countryside and are a budget-friendly option.
🚆 By Rail
Mwanza is the terminus of a branch of Tanzania’s Central Railway Line via Tabora, which connects to Dar es Salaam. While not the fastest method, rail travel is ideal for those who enjoy a slower, scenic journey through rural Tanzania.
🚢 By Ferry
Travelers looking for a more adventurous route can take ferries across Lake Victoria, with routes linking Mwanza to towns like Bukoba and Musoma. Though slower, this is a scenic and memorable way to approach the lakeside city.
